Strawberries may be famous for shortcake, but they’re just as good in savory dishes. The sweetness of fresh berries pairs surprisingly well with a little heat, a little citrus, and fresh herbs.
This strawberry salsa is one of those recipes that comes together in minutes and works with just about anything coming off the grill. Try it with tortilla chips, spoon it over fish tacos, or serve it alongside grilled chicken on a warm summer evening.
Ingredients
- 2 cups strawberries, hulled and finely diced
- 2 tablespoons very finely diced red onion
- 1 small jalapeño, seeded and minced (discard seeds)
- 2–3 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Juice of 1 small lime
- Small pinch of salt
- A few grinds black pepper
- Small drizzle of honey
Directions
Add strawberries, red onion, jalapeño, and cilantro to a bowl.
Spoon in olive oil, lime juice, salt, pepper, and honey. Toss gently.
Let it sit for 10–20 minutes, then serve with tortilla chips or over grilled chicken, fish, or tacos.
